YEREVAN. – Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan on Friday met with a delegation led by Mohamed Kamel Rezag Bara, Secretary for Coordinating the Activities of the Security Council of Algeria, and Presidential Adviser on Counter-Terrorism.

The parliament leader expressed a conviction that Mohamed Kamel Rezag Bara’s visit to Armenia will contribute to the deepening of ties between both countries, NA press service informs. In Abrahamyan’s view, there is a huge potential for developing cooperation between Armenia and Algeria. Also, he stressed the importance of developing interparliamentary relations. In his conviction, the parliamentary friendship groups and mutual visits contribute to an effective interparliamentary collaboration. In addition, Hovik Abrahamyan asked Mohamed Kamel Rezag Bara to convey, to the heads of Algeria’s two parliamentary chambers, his invitation to pay an official visit to Armenia.       

In his turn, the Algerian presidential adviser likewise underscored the need to enhance interaction with Armenia. In his conviction, the enhancing of interparliamentary ties will contribute to the strengthening of political relations. 

The parties discussed regional security issues, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and other matters of bilateral interest. It was stressed that all conflicts need to be resolved by way of peace talks.
