YEREVAN. – The decision, with respect to setting June 15 as state symbols’ day in Armenia, was removed from the agenda of Thursday’s Cabinet session. 

To note, the aforesaid date was selected because the laws “On Armenia’s Flag” and “On Armenia’s Cote of Arms” were passed on June 15, 2006. And in May 2011, the Government had approved the aforesaid proposal and set up a respective working group led by the minister of culture.  

Upon the suggestion by this group, the corresponding draft decision was included in the agenda of Thursday’s Cabinet session, but it was removed prior to the meeting.  

Culture Minister Hasmik Poghosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, however, that they have received suggestions from the presidential staff and the NGOs to once again discuss the matter of selecting the date. As per Poghosyan, this draft decision will be included in the agenda of the next Cabinet session.
