YEREVAN. – Armenia has made progress in the 2013 Index of Economic Freedom, which was issued by The Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal, as it ranked 38th from among 177 countries, Premier Tigran Sargsyan stated during Thursday’s Cabinet session. 

To note, Armenia had ranked 39th from among 184 countries in the 2012 Index. 

“As a result of the [2013] Index of Economic Freedom, we have recorded progress, [and] improved our positions, which likewise creates grounds for optimism so we may be able to move our reforms forward. This index is at the focus of investors, and improving our positions here likewise will have great significance,” the PM said.        

To note, Belgium, Poland, Cyprus, Slovakia, Spain, and several other countries are in the same group with Armenia in the 2013 Index of Economic Freedom. 

Other regional countries are ranked as follows: Georgia: 21, Turkey: 69, Azerbaijan: 88, and Iran: 168.

Hong Kong’s economic freedom score keeps it atop the Index rankings for the 19th consecutive year.
