YEREVAN. – The Syrian Armenian youth who have moved to Armenia will be able to train in a variety of sports, and free of charge. 

Upon the instruction by Police Chief, Police Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparyan, the Dinamo sports organization of capital city Yerevan will open its doors before these youth as of January 20, Police Combat and Physical Readiness Department Head, Police Lieutenant Colonel Garnik Hayrapetyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

He noted that, with the help of professional trainers, the Syrian Armenian youth can train in boxing, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, judo, table tennis, chess, and kickboxing. 

Also, Hayrapetyan informed that this initiative by Armenia’s Police has the objective of enabling the Syrian Armenian youth to continue their trainings in the homeland, too. 

The organizers assure that there will be no limitations for the number of such youth who wish to train. 

To note, around 6,000 Syrian Armenians have moved to Armenia as a result of the ongoing events in Syria. At present, there are more than 500 Syrian Armenian schoolchildren and over 300 Syrian Armenian university students that are continuing their education in Armenia.
