Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi stated that additional sanctions imposed against Iran over its nuke program would “complicate the situation.”
“To talk about sanctions at the moment will complicate the situation and might stand in the way of finding a diplomatic solution,” The New York Times quotes the Chinese FM. Yang Jiechi also called for holding direct talks with Tehran.
As NEWS.am reported earlier, last week U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that China might experience diplomatic isolation if it does not back additional sanctions against Iran. She also added that Chinese authorities do not support sanctions against Iran due to their commercial interests.
