YEREVAN. – During the forthcoming presidential election, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia plans to guarantee the highest-quality voting process within the army, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan stated during a press conference on Friday.

In his words, maximum efforts will be made and a strict control will be exercised so that the presidential voting in the army is conducted without any election violations.

To the query as to whether it would be more rational if the army does not take part in the voting so as to rule out election violation, the minister recalled that such initiative would simply be contrary to the Constitution.

To note, the presidential election in Armenia will be held on February 18, and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) Election Observation Mission to Armenia already has started its activities in the country.
