GYUMRI. – It is becoming more apparent during the election campaign that the presidential race will be between us and the ruling Republican Party of Armenia candidate, serving President Serzh Sargsyan. Presidential contender, opposition Freedom Party Chairman, former PM Hrant Bagratyan stated this Tuesday during a press conference in Gyumri city.

“You think he [that is, Sargsyan] has solved the matter of first place [in the February 18 election] and, now, he is attempting to solve the matter of second place. There are two [election] programs: one is Serzh Sargsyan’s, which says nothing, [and] the second is our program, which offers a solution to social problems,” Bagratyan said. He added that everything should be done to achieve social equality and to reduce social polarization in Armenia.  

In the presidential candidate’s words, the tie between the oligarchs and the state must be severed and, also, the country’s small and medium-sized businesses need to be developed. 

“This is my program, which greatly differs from the programs offered by the others,” Armenia’s former PM stressed.
