YEREVAN. – There cannot be a more fundamental political opposition than the Communist Party of Armenia (CPA), at least in terms of ideology, because the other parties preach a liberal ideology. First Secretary Ruben Tovmasyan of the CPA Central Committee stated this during a press conference on Wednesday.
“The two main proposals of the Communist Party are: Returning to the people the properties that were snatched in the 1990s, and nationalizing all strategic domains,” Tovmasyan noted.
In his words, if any of the current presidential candidates had presented such intentions, the CPA would definitely have supported him.
Also, the Communist Party of Armenia leader is convinced that nothing will change in the country following the presidential election on February 18, since none of the presidential contenders has spoken in favor of developing Armenia on the socialist path and restoring the workers’ rights.
