YEREVAN.- Armenia’s incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan will become the President of Armenia for the second term – next five years. According to the results of presidential elections, released by Armenian Central Electoral Commission,  Sargsyan got 771,669 votes.

To win in the first round, the candidate needs to receive 50% plus one vote. Taken into account that, according to the Chairman of Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission Tigran Mukuchyan, overall, 1 million 518 thousand 407 voters voted in Armenian Presidential Elections, Sargsyan has already received the majority of votes.

The second is former Armenian FM and Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian with 36.77 percent (483,710 votes) of votes. Armenia’s former PM Hrant Bagratyan is on third position with 2.12 percent (27,933).

Paruyr Hayrikyan polled 1.23% (16,232) and is fourth.

Vardan Sedrakyan, Andreas Ghukasyan and Arman Melikyan got less than one percent of votes.

Note that on Monday the Presidential Elections were held in Armenia. Seven candidates were running for the presidency: the incumbent President and leader of ruling Republican Party Serzh Sargsyan, the leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian, former Armenian Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan, head of the Association National Self-Determination Paruyr Hayrikyan, political scientist Andreas Ghukasyan, former Karabakh Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan and epos specialist Vardan Sedrakyan.
