YEREVAN. – Supporters of the leader of the Armenian National Congress Levon Ter-Petrosyan gathered in Liberty Square on Tuesday after a long break (photo).

Chairman of newly formed ANC party Aram Manukyan opened the rally, apologizing for not gathering for 11 months.

Stressing that the demonstration is being held ahead of the Yerevan municipal elections, Manukyan pointed out numerous problems the residents are faced with.

Noting importance of the Yerevan elections, Manukyan called on the opposition to join efforts in order to deprive ruling Republican Party of Armenia of political monopoly. There are good prerequisites for gaining power, since RPA has never got more than 50 percent of votes in the capital, he said.
