YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Tuesday received a delegation of MP’s, led by Martin Callanan, from the conservatives’ and the reformists’ faction of the European Parliament.    

The President stated that the Armenia-European Union (EU) discourse is developing and the parliamentarians play an important role in improving these relations. Sargsyan reaffirmed that European integration is an important component of Armenia’s foreign policy because the Armenian civilization likewise is an integral part of European civilization.    

In terms of developing European integration, the interlocutors underscored the need to increase cooperation among the political forces. Armenia’s President and the European Parliament members reflected on Armenia-EU cooperation, too.   

The parties also exchanged views on regional matters and challenges and the current phase of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement. In this context, Martin Callanan highly appreciated Armenia’s efforts to settle this conflict.  

At the end of the talk, the European Parliament delegation members wished Serzh Sargsyan success in his second tenure as the President of Armenia.
