YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Tigran Mukuchyan on Thursday met with the representatives of the observation mission of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
Welcoming the delegates, Tigran Mukuchyan highly appreciated the role and significance of the observation mission in the election process.
At the request of mission head Stewart Dickson, CEC president presented information on political parties and a bloc running in the Yerevan Council elections. He touched upon the Commission’s activities in preparation for the May 5 elections.
Six political parties and one bloc have submitted formal applications to run in the Yerevan Council elections. The latter are slated for May 5, and the participating political forces will vie for 65 Council seats.
