YEREVAN. – Leader of Heritage party, former presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian held a regular meeting with residents of Yerevan to secure the backing of “Barev, Yerevan” bloc during the upcoming municipal elections.
In his address, he once again promised “a new situation” after the elections when ordinary citizens “will regain power.”
He called to repeat “the February 18 surprise” on May 5, recalling that “Barev, Yerevan” is the only non-partisan bloc.
“But I’m not going to comment on those who were not there on February 18 but are making strong statements now,” he emphasized.
Six political parties and one bloc have submitted formal applications to run in the Yerevan Council elections. The latter are slated for May 5, and the participating political forces will vie for 65 Council seats. The Yerevan Council election will be held with proportional lists only.
These parties are Republican Party of Armenia, Prosperous Armenia, Orinats Yerkir, Armenian National Congress, Arakelutyun, ARF Dashnaktustyun and “Barev, Yerevan” bloc of parties
