YEREVAN. – I evaluate Sunday’s Armenian capital city Yerevan Council of Elders elections as competitive and primarily normal; naturally, there was political tension.

Ruling Republican Party (RPA) Campaign Headquarters Chief, RPA Press Secretary, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He also noted that some political forces crossed the border of campaigning during the campaign season, and they conducted an anti-campaign, along with insults.

Sharmazanov informed that their headquarters likewise recorded election violations, but the latter cannot overshadow the quality of the elections in any way.

“We can state that the democratic course of the local government elections in the Republic of Armenia is irreversible from now on,” he said.

Eduard Sharmazanov stressed that if this dynamic continues, he is convinced that the Yerevan residents will live in a better Yerevan in the next four years.
