YEREVAN. – If the price of natural gas increases in Armenia, the civil activists will fight with actions of disobedience.

The “We will not Allow the Raising of the Gas [Price]” initiative members Silva Adamyan, Aram Grigoryan, and former presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan informed the aforesaid to news reporters.

In Ghukasyan’s words, the government is not held accountable for the non-fulfillment of its programs.

“They had pledged to reduce poverty; they did not reduce [it]. Did anyone answer for this? No. This is the ordinary modus operandi of the government,” Ghukasyan said. In his words, the protests will be organized by any means.

In her turn, Silva Adamyan stated that the gas price hike will increase illegal logging of forests, but neither the society nor the authorities have any moral right to stop that.

“Since he [i.e., the person] has no other means of heating [himself],” Adamyan said.

The activists also plan to petition to the Public Services Regulatory Commission.
