YEREVAN. – Ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly (RPA NA) Faction leader Galust Sahakyan has never stood out for being tactful. 

Opposition Social-Democratic Hnchakyan Party Chairwoman, Armenian National Congress bloc MP Lyudmila Sargsyan noted the above-said at a press conference on Monday, reacting to Sahakyan’s recent lewd comments that were made against opposition Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan.

In Sargsyan’s words, Postanjyan is a mother of four children and no one has the right to insult her, and this is a most serious violation of ethics.  

“In addition, I have also spoken in defense of [RPA MP] Naira Karapetyan, saying that there is no evidence that she has insulted someone. If Galust Sahakyan can insult a female MP and his matter will not enter the [NA] Ethics Committee, it is meaningless to enter the other MPs’ matters, even more so if it refers to women. For me it does not matter which [NA] faction a woman represents,” Sargsyan noted.     

She added that when all RPA and tactless MPs are punished, only then will she be in favor of women’s issues likewise being raised at the aforesaid committee.
