Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Syrian conflict is becoming more inter-confessional and is fraught with serious threats to non-Muslim groups.

The situation threatens regional stability, he said after the Wednesday meeting with foreign ministers of Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba and Haiti in Moscow.

Russian FM stressed that the conflict may deepen controversy within Muslim word and threaten non-Muslim groups of the region, RIA Novosti reported.

He noted that possible adoption of a resolution by the UN Commission on Human Rights may complicate holding of international conference on Syria initiated by the U.S. and Russia.
