YEREVAN. – Armenia achieved significant progress, in recent years, in the development of local self-government bodies.
President Herwig van Staa of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CoE) stated the abovementioned during his joint news conference Tuesday with Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration, Vache Terteryan.
He also stressed that the objective of the Congress is to assist Armenia in the development and strengthening of the local self-government bodies.
To note, the session of the Bureau of CoE Congress of Local and Regional Authorities is convened in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan on Tuesday. And the international conference, titled “Participatory Democracy at Local Level,” will be held on Wednesday.
