YEREVAN. – EU is not obliging and forcing Armenia to do something, French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud said during the Friday press conference.

“Progress comes through dialogue,” the diplomat said, recalling that democracy means freedom for others and a manifestation of tolerance towards others.

Talking about the process of European integration, Henri Renaud noted progress in the negotiations on the Association Agreement and the Agreement on the establishment of a free trade area.

“The final stage – initialing of the agreements – will be held this November in Vilnius. This is an important achievement. I congratulate Armenia. France has no doubt that Armenia will fulfill its mission, and I, as ambassador, express my appreciation for Armenia’s success,” he said.

 At the same time, he noted that this process involves the legislative changes and the establishment of structures for the full implementation of the agreements.

“The prospects are encouraging,” Ambassador said, noting that the EU has now become the number one economic partner for Armenia.
