YEREVAN. – The activities of the OSCE Minsk Group can be more active, OSCE chief Leonid Kozhara said in Yerevan.
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office recalled that settlement of protracted conflicts is one of the priorities of Ukraine’s presidency.
“Ukraine is surrounded by “frozen” conflicts – Moldova, South Caucasus. This explains Ukraine’s attitude towards the issue,” he said. Ukraine believes that it is necessary to maintain an active process, hold meetings in different formats, at the level of presidents and foreign ministers.
Ukraine supports actions of the OSCE Minsk Group, but believes that it could have more active engagement in the settelement process and could achieve more specific results.
“Not a single conflict was settled after a conference or session. Practical work is necessary,” he added.
At the same time, he stressed importance of the organization of meetings between representatives of civil society. Kozhara said Ukraine is ready to provide its territory for such a meeting.
In addition, Ukraine supports all activities aimed at mitigating the consequences of humanitarian disasters. And any such conflict has consequences, Leonid Kozhar said.
