YEREVAN. – I look forward to a support by the British authorities, which likewise can assist us in founding the New Aleppo district in Armenia’s Ashtarak city, for Syrian Armenians.
Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan noted the abovementioned during her talk with Catherine Jane Leach, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ambassador to Armenia, the Diaspora Ministry press service informs.
“The Syrian Armenians’ matter is very important and urgent. Today, the Syrian Armenians [that have moved to Armenia recently] have a more urgent matter: having a dwelling. In this connection, a plot of land is allocated in Ashtarak city, to found the New Aleppo district. But the provided amounts are not enough to cover all the costs for the construction of the district. [So,] I look forward to the second support from the British authorities,” Hakobyan said, in particular.
“What the Armenian government is doing is important. The governments of several European countries have assisted the Syrians, and the Syrian Armenians living in Armenia also are in need of such assistance. I hope we will be able to help them,” Ambassador Leach stated, in her turn.
