YEREVAN. – Leader of the opposition party said Armenia has prospects for development of relations with EU, if initialing of Association Agreement does not become lever of pressure on Yerevan.    

Raffi Hovannisian believes we must understand the essence of the Association Agreement. If it implies only entering free trade area, or it implies a lever of pressure on Turkey to open the border, Armenia has to sign the document.

“If the agreement is used to press Armenia on making concessions on Karabakh, we must reject the signing or simultaneously sign the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he told reporters.

As to joining the Customs Union, Hovannisian said Armenia can have a representative in the organization, therefore it will be represented in both organizations.
