YEREVAN. – Armenia, as a CSTO member, welcomes the growing discourse and the close partnership between UN and CSTO, specifically in the fight against cross-border crimes.    

Armenia’s Permanent Representative to UN, Ambassador Garen Nazarian, stated the aforesaid while addressing a UN Security Council discussion on Tuesday, informs the Armenian MFA press service.  

Nazarian stressed that Armenia underscores the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ efforts toward a peaceful settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He noted that the ongoing peace talks in this format are among the key prerequisites for maintaining the ceasefire between the conflicting parties.     

Informing that Armenia has assumed chairmanship at the Council of Europe (CoE) Ministers’ Committee, Nazarian noted that the country’s respective priorities are the combat against racism, discrimination, xenophobia, intolerance, terrorism and human trafficking, the promotion of intercultural dialogue, and the strengthening of rule of law and democracy.        

Armenia’s Permanent Representative to UN also urged to encourage and support the initiatives that are aimed at the expansion of ties among partners, and finding new avenues for cooperation with regional organizations.
