The CSTO member states adopted a declaration on situation in Syria as a result of Sochi summit on Monday, ITAR-TASS reported.

The sides underscored necessity of peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

The CSTO member states share the view that situation in Syria can be resolved exclusively by peaceful political means, and any foreign military action would be a flagrant violation of international law, Putin added.

According to RIA Novosti, speaking at the summit, the heads of Armenia and Belarus declared their support for Russia’s efforts to resolve the Syrian conflict.

President Sargsyan said that Armenia is for the speediest settlement of the Syrian conflict on the background of inter-ethnic dialogue.

“In this context, we definitely welcome Russia-U.S. agreement on the peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict,” Sargsyan said.
