President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan asked his CSTO partners for support in getting observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
During the CSTO summit in Sochi, President Sargsyan confirmed Armenia’s interest in the work of SCO which, according to his assessment, is making great contribution to ensuring regional security.
“I hope for your support on the issue,” Armenian leader said addressing his counterparts from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, ITAR-TASS reported.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation includes Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, China and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, Iran, Mongolia, India and Pakistan have a status of observers.
