YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian’s working visit to New York City kicked off on Thursday.

First, Nalbandian attended the meeting with Catherine Ashton—European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy—, Štefan Füle—European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy—, and the FMs of the member countries of the Eastern Partnership initiative.

The parties discussed the preparations for the Eastern Partnership summit to be convened in Vilnius, Lithuania, in November.  

During Armenian FM’s talk with Didier Burkhalter, Head of the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs, the interlocutors looked into the priorities of Switzerland’s 2014 chairmanship at the OSCE, and exchanged views on the activities of this organization, informs the Armenian MFA press service. 

At UN Headquarters, and on behalf of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian signed the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.       

During the talk between Armenia’s FM and his Chilean counterpart Alfredo Moreno, the parties discussed bilateral relations, underscored the formation of a legal and contractual framework, the establishment of cooperation within international organizations, and the holding of consultations between the MFAs of both countries.  

Edward Nalbandian’s next meeting was with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier. The interlocutor’s exchanged views on the OSCE agenda items, and the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
