YEREVAN. – The whereabouts of Vahe Mkrtchyan detained on November 5 have been revealed. As it turned out, he still remains behind bars, although earlier police reported about his release.

In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Mkrtchyan’s wife said the prison officers refused to take her parcel, offering to come back later.

The press service of the police reported that Vahe Mkrtchyan had been arrested. That is, the previous message on his release was wrong.

To remind, United National Initiative leader and activist Shant Harutyunyan, who had announced about starting a revolution, on Tuesday—and with close to one-hundred supporters wearing Guy Fawkes “Anonymous masks”—started a march toward the Presidential Palace, but the police stopped the march.

As a result, there was a scuffle, and the police detained 38 activists, including Harutyunyan and his son. As a result of the melee, sixteen people, including eight police officers, were injured. In addition, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reported had sustained bodily injuries.

Later 14 activists, including Hrutyunyan, were arrested on charges of using violence against police officers.
