YEREVAN. – The head of Armenian National Congress faction Levon Zurabyan addressed the chairman of the Control Chamber Ishkhan Zakaryan with a question whether the Chamber can check business of oligarchs.

“The major part of budget funds is grabbed on the way to budget,” Zurabyan emphasized. “So, does the Control Chamber consider it necessary to check the enterprises owned by oligarchs? Business of Barsegh Beglaryan, Samvel Aleksanyan, Gagik Khachatryan and others. The latter, being an oligarch, is also responsible for raising funds for the budget, as he is heading the State Revenue Committee.”

Ishkhan Zakaryan said that Chamber’s authority is limited to checkup of government agencies.

“It is not our function to check the legality of a private business,” he added.
