YEREVAN. – Armenian political analyst said the time will show how the relations between Armenia and EU will continue, adding that the parties realize that the process must develop.

Alexander Markarov said it is clear that the Association Agreement will not be initialed during the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius. The political analyst believes it is about strengthening of positions.

“The sides understand that the process must develop,” Markarov said, adding that the policy of complementarity is an integral part of the policy of a small state. In this context, it is important to continue talks with the European agencies to determine whether the sides are ready to a new post-Vilnius format of finding aspects of cooperation.

The political analyst is confident that assistance to reforms, human rights and democracy as well as cooperation with the civil society will continue.

Commenting on the likelihood of Russian president’s visit to Yerevan, Markarov recalled that the Kremlin press service did not confirm the trip will take place. However, Armenia will host a business forum in December, and the possibility of a visit cannot be ruled out, he added.
