YEREVAN. – The increase in the price of natural gas has restrained the economic growth in Armenia by 0.8 to 1 percent.

Minister of Finance Davit Sargsyan noted the aforesaid at Wednesday’s National Assembly discussions devoted to the draft 2014 State Budget.

The minister noted that the international organizations had made such an assessment, and a 5.2-percent economic growth is envisioned in next year’s draft budget.

“The modernization of the energy structures [of Armenia] has enabled to reduce [natural] gas  consumption at workshops,” Sargsyan added.
