YEREVAN. – Armenian Justice Minister assured that the conditions created for Vardan Petrposyan in prison hospital guarantee control over the state of his health and proper treatment.

“I told him that for me at this point the state of his health is important. His doctors will be given an opportunity to visit Vardan Petrposyan in case of necessity,” Hrayr Tovmasyan told reporters in parliament.

Referring to the arrest as a restraining order against Petrosyan, the Minister said that he had repeatedly claimed the state of restraining order is “unsatisfactory.”

“There is a problem that is related to legislative decisions. Necessary amendments have been submitted to the parliament,” he noted.

Tovmasyan also added that the statement by president’s spokesperson was misinterpreted.

“The statement did not suggest that Serzh Sargsyan can change the restraining order. The statement clearly indicated that on this case he was not authorized to give orders. The President voiced his concern about problems in this area, and over the need to amend the legislation.”
