YEREVAN. – Next year Armenia will introduce a package of active social support for groups not competitive in labor market, PM said.

Tigran Sargsyan once again said he believes the old system of unemployment benefits is ineffective.

“Every citizen could receive 18,000 drams for at least six months if he lost his job. However, it was not counted whether he really was in need of the amount,” Sargsyan said responding to the lawmakers’ questions in parliament.

Under the new system, he added, the payments are provided only to social groups that are non-competitive in the labor market.

Unemployment benefits will be annulled in Armenia starting from 2014.
