The talk between Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev kicked off in Austrian capital city Vienna.

The meeting is held at Hofburg Palace, the Armenian President’s press secretary Arman Saghatelyan has tweeted.  

To note, this is the first meeting between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan over the past two years.

Prior to this talk, the leaders of the two countries had a telephonic conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry. 

Ahead of the Vienna meeting, Kerry reconfirmed his country’s full assistance to the peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. The parties noted that there is no alternative to a pacific resolution, and stressed the need to find mutually acceptable mechanisms that are based on fundamental precepts.
