The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs welcomes the meeting between presidents of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev held in Vienna on 19 November.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Catherine Ashton commended the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and their efforts “in facilitating the resumption of top level meetings. The Presidents’ agreement to advance negotiations and meet again in the months ahead is encouraging.”

“The European Union is ready to engage in renewed efforts towards political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and to further contribute to peace-building efforts, in support of and in full complementarity with the OSCE Minsk Group,” the statement reads.
