YEREVAN. – Secretary of opposition Heritage party said a statement on Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union confirmed two important facts: we do not have the right to choose our country’s development prospects and choose our partners.

Stepan Safaryan believes this is the main message left after the statement and that will be left after the Vilnius summit.

“Whatever the Republican Party of Armenia states, it will not be valid, at least for me, because it is not clear how the Prime Minister can write an article saying it is unnecessary to join CU, and then join it,” the opposition representative said during discussions in Yerevan.

Customs Union, in his opinion, is an alliance based on blackmail.

“I have to criticize Europe for not having signed the papers and waiting for Vilnius. Nothing prevented them from signing. Secondly, the EU should realize that cooperation with vulnerable Armenian authorities is hopeless because such authorities remain vulnerable to all sorts of blackmail,” Safaryan emphasized.
