YEREVAN. – The four civic activists—Olya Azatyan, Babken Ter-Grigoryan, Zaruhi Hovhannisyan, and Artur Petrosyan—, who were detained on Monday, have been released on the same day from Kentron Police Department of capital city Yerevan.

The activists were detained for placing a poster protesting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to be conducted to Armenia on Monday.

The activists told Armenian News-NEWS.am that a police report was prepared, according to which they had  committed an administrative offense; specifically, not obeying lawful police instructions.

“They took us [to the police department] unlawfully,” Babken Ter-Grigoryan said. He added that if the police have not provided a legal basis for detaining them, they cannot make any legal claim.
