GYUMRI. – The area surrounding the Holy Savior Church of Armenia’s Gyumri city is closed with barriers, and a large number of police officers are patrolling the area, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs from the city.
In Gyumri, Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit the 1988 Armenian earthquake memorial, which is located at the churchyard.
The Gyumri central square also been closed, our reporter informs.
To note, at the invitation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to Armenia on Monday. First, Putin will visit Gyumri and, subsequently, he will arrive in capital city Yerevan. Several Armenian initiatives and activists plan to carry out, on the same day, a variety of protests against Putin’s visit, and the police are detaining numerous activists since early Monday morning.
