Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili declared April 11 a mourning day in Georgia in commemoration of Polish president Lech Kaczynski’s plane crash, said Georgian president’s spokesperson Manana Manjgaladze at April 10 press conference.

According to her, Saakashvili signed a decree on acclaiming Kaczynski Georgian national hero.

“President reckons that his merits for Georgia are invaluable, as he was standing for Georgia on international arena and was in the country when Russian tanks invaded Tbilisi,” Manjgaladze stated.

Dmitry Medvedev also declared April 12 a national mourning day for the victims of the crash.

Poland will be in 7-day full mourning for the crash.
