YEREVAN. – The treaty on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is a quite major document.

Opposition Heritage Party National Assembly (NA) Faction Head Ruben Hakobyan noted the abovementioned at Friday’s—and the year’s final—NA briefing.

“But, unfortunately, there were no serious parliamentary deliberations on the document; this means that there was no proper interest,” Hakobyan noted.

At the same time, however, Heritage’s MP confessed that the majority of the Armenian body politic likewise is in favor of the country’s EEU accession. Hakobyan, however, did not explain why the Heritage NA Faction had voted against the ratification of the aforesaid treaty on Thursday.

“But what happened in the parliament [on Thursday] was a situational [political] party vote. To defend the security and dignity of the [Armenian] state, at least thirty MPs should have expressed against this treaty,” Ruben Hakobyan stressed.
