YEREVAN. – First and foremost, Armenia faces the challenge of physical survival.

Opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party National Assembly (NA) Faction Head Armen Rustamyan stated the aforesaid at Friday’s—and the year’s final—NA briefing. He noted this in connection with Thursday’s parliamentary ratification of the treaty on Armenia’s accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union.

In his view, it is indispensible to find a new and full security system in the South Caucasus.

“It is apparent that there is a complex geopolitical situation in the world, and the economy can’t suffer because of it. All this forces [us] to live with the corresponding mode.

“If we [, Armenia,] fail to ensure a physical existence, we can’t ensure economic or cultural programs,” Rustamyan stressed.

As per the ARF MP, a partial loss of sovereignty always occurs when joining any integration.

“The world is truly going through new geopolitical cataclysms and, under these conditions, it is necessary to soundly assess the situation,” Armen Rustamyan added.
