YEREVAN. – The overwhelming majority of not solely the political forces, but also of the Armenian society favors the country’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly (RPA NA) Faction Head Vahram Baghdasaryan stated the aforesaid at Friday’s—and the year’s final—NA briefing.

“This is the virtually united position of the society,” Baghdasaryan added.

As per the RPA MP, the EEU accession aims to strengthen the independence of Armenia.

“There would not have been any agreement if it were to jeopardize the independence of our country; this is ruled out,” Vahram Baghdasaryan stressed.

The National Assembly on Thursday ratified the treaty on Armenia’s accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union. The document was ratified by a vote of 103 for, 7 against, and one abstention.
