YEREVAN. – According to Turkey’s mindset and the manner in which it conducts its policy, the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and the recognition of the Armenian Genocide are viewed as one matter, as the Armenian issue, for this country.

The Head of the Neighbouring Countries Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia, Arsen Avagyan, said about the abovementioned at Saturday’s discussions devoted to the recognition of and reparations for the Armenian Genocide.

“No matter how much we [,Armenians,] say that the Armenian Genocide topic is no longer a taboo in Turkey, it should be taken into account that it is primarily the leftist-minded society in Turkey that speaks about it [in the country].

“The bulk of the Turkish society [, on the other hand,] still perceives the Armenians as a threat, and believes that this threat will exist as long as the matters of Armenian Genocide recognition and reparation are raised,” Avagyan stated.
