YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday received Oleksandr Pavlyuk, Head of the Council of Europe (CoE) Office in Yerevan, who is ending his mission in Armenia.
President Sargsyan thanked Ambassador for his mission in Armenia and stressed he shouldered great responsibility as the first head of CoE office in Armenia.
The Armenian leader expressed hope that ambassador's successor will continue his mission with the same enthusiasm. Armenia attaches great importance and highly values assistance of the Council of Europe on democratic processes.
According to the President, prior to becoming a full member of the Council of Europe, and today, as a member state, Armenia enjoyed and continues to enjoy the expert potential of the organization, which is essential for the harmonization of laws and practices of the country with European standards.
Oleksandr Pavlyuk noted development of a new action plan for 2015-2017 is being discussed with Armenian Foreign Ministry and other concerned agencies in order to deepen and strengthen democratic processes.
The sides stressed that during the six months chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Armenia has completed its mission that received a positive assessment from the Council of Europe leadership.
