YEREVAN. – All those, like Britain, who see themselves as friends to both Turkey and Armenia hope for progress in Armenian-Turkish normalisation, UK Ambassador to Armenia Katherine Leach told Armenian News-NEWS.am asked about possible progress in normalization.

“We strongly supported the 2009 Protocols and have continually urged their ratification without preconditions. Particularly in this upcoming centenary year, we see our role as doing everything we can to support Armenian-Turkish reconciliation and normalisation,” Ambassador Leach said.

The diplomat added that UK recognizes the importance for both these countries of facing their terrible joint history together and finding a way forward for the future.

“We hope very much that steps forward can be taken in 2015” .
