The Georgian authorities have covered the funeral costs for Armenians Svetlana, Liana and Zhanna Yeghizarova, and Nana Pilishvili, who died during the recent flood in Tbilisi.
Editor of the Vrastan (Georgia) newspaper, Van Bayburtyan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He also informed that the state allocated 10,000 Georgian laris (approx. US$4,465), each, to the families of the victims.
“The funeral of Zhanna and Nana was held together, whereas that of Svetlana and Liana, separately,” said Bayburtyan. “Representatives of the Armenian community also attended the women’s funeral.”
The two Armenian women who died were cousins, and they lived in the same yard. Zhanna Yeghizarova and Nana Pilishvili, on the other hand, had infants.
The devastating flood in Georgia’s capital city had occurred in the early morning hours of June 14, as heavy rains had caused the River Vere to burst its banks.
