YEREVAN. – France is not used to make comments on internal developments in a sovereign country, Ambassador of France to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier told reporters when asked to comment on electricity price protests.

“We are of course closely following the developments that are in the logic of democratic processes. It is normal when people put forward demands. It is also normal that the authorities want to protect the public order. The only thing we want is that a solution through dialogue could be found as soon as possible . The solution that is acceptable to all and is economically sustainable, because the economy is an important factor” the Ambassador said.

Following the sixth day of demonstrations in Yerevan, President Serzh Sargsyan held a meeting with the officials responsible for economic policy of the country. During the meeting he said the government will absorb the electricity price hike before the end of evaluation conducted by an international company.
