YEREVAN. – Even though the woman—who had just delivered a baby but had sustained a severe gunshot wound from her husband—is in stable but critical condition, there is a positive trend.

Director of the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan, Razmik Abrahamyan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am. He also noted that it is already a good thing that the woman’s health has not deteriorated under such conditions.

In Abrahamyan’s words, they are doing everything so that the mother and her newborn son continue to live. He added that both are in the intensive care unit.

“She is conscious, she understands, shows, but she is under artificial respiration,” said the physician. “We will do everything so that they live.”

A tragic event occurred Tuesday at the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology. A man had come to the hospital, shot his wife who had given birth recently, and killed himself.

We managed to find out that they live in Yerevan. The woman is Milena A., 27, and her husband, Hayk V., 33, had shot the woman in the neck and then committed suicide. He died on the spot, whereas the woman underwent surgery. Her newborn baby is doing fine.
