A high-speed train hit two persons, including a child, in the Fukui Prefecture of Japan.

The victims are unconscious, reported the NHK television of the country.

The incident occurred a few hundred meters away from the railway station in Sakai city.

The train conductor had noticed a child on the tracks, and therefore tried to stop the train. At that time, a man had run toward the tracks and covered up the child with his body. 

The train, however, could not stop on time, and it hit them, reported TASS news agency of Russia.

The police are working at the scene.

The railway traffic in the area has stopped.
