A bomb attack at a police station in Istanbul hurt five police officers and two civilians, Associated Press reported Sunday citing Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency.

The attack caused a fire that collapsed part of the three-story building.

The explosion also damaged around twenty cars parked nearby, reported Lenta.ru, a Moscow-based online newspaper in Russian.

The attack comes at a time of a sharp spike in violence between Turkey’s security forces and militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK.
