YEREVAN. - Relatives of late Armenian maternity patient Meri Margaryan are outraged by the fact that doctor Shushanik Bakhshyan, whom they blame for Meri’s death, has returned to work.
Meri’s brother Martin Margaryan told Armenian News – NEWS.am that the hospital administration didn’t even wait for the results of the expert examination.
“Shushanik Margaryan’s silence is incomprehensible to us. She dared to come to work. Thus, it can be concluded that the medical centre is managed by wrong people. Otherwise, the director and his deputy would have learnt about the difficult condition of my sister immediately, and not on the day of sending her to “Erebouni” Medical Center,” Martin Margaryan said.
Meri Margaryan’s relatives will state their position after receiving the results of the forensic and medical expert examination.
According to Meri’s brother, her sister had been running high temperature for several days, but the doctor was calming her down, advising to take paracetamol. The woman was hospitalized at the insistence of her relatives, but she felt worse in the hospital. Then it was decided to move her to the multi-specialized “Erebouni” medical centre, where Meri had Caesarean section, 2 days after which she died. The following day her newborn daughter passed away as well.
Doctor of “Shengavit” Medical Center Shushanik Bakhshyan keeps insisting Meri didn’t have pneumonia. However, according to Armenia’s Investigative Committee, Meri Margaryan died from double pneumonia and a number of other complications.
